NAVTRAK

Measuring GPS Precision and Accuracy

The Navtrak System provides a method for quantitatively evaluating the accuracy of GPS or other position-reporting devices in a controlled, dynamic environment. Physically, the Navtrak System consists of a precisely surveyed rail, a locomotive for motion control, a logger to record data and a command console to control and monitor data recording. During a test session, the device under test is moved along a controlled, repeatable path, and data is recorded from the device and from the system. By comparing the position reported by the device and the position reported by the system, the accuracy of the device can be analyzed in a variety of conditions.
